./configure --help

lists these options:

  --datadir=DIR           read-only architecture-independent data in DIR
                          [PREFIX/share]
  --libdir=DIR            object code libraries in DIR [EPREFIX/lib]

Btw, if I'm not mistaken, KDE is using the /opt/package/ directory
correctly.
