Imho as Kurt already said. Applets and docked applications do serve
different purposes. It is intuitive to present different things in
different ways without beeing obscure.

I for example want all docked things like knotes and kmoon always to be
handy on the right edge of my panel and treated differently from swallowed
apps like xload and also separated from stuff like the pager and the
Applets.
