KDE RELEASE ROADMAP
(http://www.kde.org/roadmap99.html)
The KDE project is happy to announce its release roadmap for
the coming year. This roadmap is an indication of WHAT we TRY
to achieve and WHEN we HOPE to have achieved this.
No guarantees whatsoever are given that this roadmap will
have any correspondence with actual events as they happen.
DISCLAIMER FOR COMMERCIAL PARTIES:
In general KDE tries to release software when it has reached
a certain maturity and when its quality is acceptable.
As a result of this, planned release dates may be delayed
significantly. KDE considers the maturity and quality of
its software more important than meeting release dates.
The following releases have been planned:
1)
Name....: KDE 1.1.2 (Might also be named 1.2?)
Based on: KDE 1.1.1
Codename: Kolor (Colour outside the lines)
Aim.....: To release additions to KDE 1.1.1 which did not make it
into KDE 1.1.1 and which give more "color" to KDE.
Includes: High-color icons, more backgrounds, theme manager etc.
Important bugfixes
Some new applications not yet in CVS.
Planned.: July 1999
Critical: Release date depends on the output from the artist-team
being available.
Remarks.: No changes to existing code other than bugfixes is
allowed. Should be compatible with KDE1.1.
2)

before it is too late to make major changes.

* kserviced (CORBA service daemon)
* konqueror
* CORBA based mail-framework
* new session management
Integrate database functionality

Critical: Release date depends on the includes marked with a *
being available.
Remarks.: This will be a very unstable alpha release.
Distributions are strongly adviced NOT too ship this
without including a stable KDE release as well.
This release will be binary incompatible with all
other releases.
