Yes, a good idea, I think. For me, Mail and News (and pims, of course :-
))
belong to the important applications of a desktop environment, so it 
might
be that there is food enough to talk about in a separate list.

On the other hand we should take care for not splitting the lists too
much, resulting in "zombie-lists" with very low traffic. But, we'll see
and why not try it ...
