I don't agree with this at all.
First, the dragon is really cute, everybody likes it (here, on slashdot, my 
gf, ...) except you and M. Sir K
Second, the contest is currently about finding a name to it. Look at the
mess it is. Everybody suggest something, but nobody can finally sort all
this mess and decide what the name is going to be.
So, if even the name contest doesn't reach a decision, I can't imagine what 
the mascot contest itself will be.
Third, I think artists efforts should be put in making better graphics for
KDE, not on spending time for a proposed mascot that will end in the trash
bin (because another one is elected).
