And why not make your patch work using QString's sprintf method? That
would let us add a config option to set the text of the tip.
eg.
QString msg(i18n("Connected at %s"))
QString tip()
tip.sprintf(msg, speed)
You could then make it easy for new users to understand while still
allowing
people to set the tip to a bare connection speed.
