Yes it was. Using su to check a users'  password is a different something
but I came up with the idea when writing ksuexec.

The advantage of using su to check a users' password is that kcheckpass
then doesn't need to be setuid root (as it has to be on a shadow password
system). 

Maybe we should add this as another authentification method of kcheckpass?
Anyone?
