After several weeks of coding the new KDE Taskmanager KTop is almost
ready. The new version (0.9.9) is more or less a complete rewrite of
0.9.7. The main goal was to make it a lot easier to support different
platforms and to stabilize the code for future enhancements. All OS
specific code was moved into the OS... classes. Currently it only
supports Linux 2.x but it should be easy now to add support for other
platforms. Since I do not have access to a lot of other platforms KDE
runs on I need help!

Please look at the file OSStatus.cpp for instructions how to port the
code. Most modules are fairly well documented and with some knowledge
on how to retrieve process information (/proc file system or sysctl())
the porting shouldn't take too long.

KTop can be used with KDE 1.x and Qt 1.4x.

Please mail me patches against the latest version of the CVS. I try not
to change it much during the next week or so. And please do not change
any other files but the OS*.(cpp|h) files unless you really have
to. New features won't be added before version 1.0.0!

So in a few days KTop will be stable again. Is there still a chance to
include it in KDE 1.1?

Chris
