I'll revisit the config material.

It's pure pain and nonsense, since the configuration can come from
- the command line
- the menu
- the session management
- different configuration files
- outer space

This requierement makes the consistent maintenance of the configuration an
annoying task. It's a permament issue by design. The only chance to track this
down would be to have a single consistent interface to all different sources.
Until then, there will be most likely one or the other way to configure something
more or less. To see the issue, every feature needs not only be programmed, but
configured by five different means adding an overhead greater then the feature
itself. This is a very principle problem, and a large amount of code (nearly all
main.C) is dedicated to this. Since this is approx. 500 lines or more, a
generating perl script or something like that is indicated.
