Hello,

I like this idea very much, but I have one note to make: We
once had a discussion about the problems that are caused by
the icon loader trying (usally without result) to look into a
lot of dirs. On NFS-mounted systems, this can be dog slow. On
my HP, starting kpanel took about 2 minutes. This improved, as
the panel now works different, but the problem may get worse
if you apply your patch.

Perhaps it should be combined with a chaching mechanism for
lookups. Perhaps we should just try it, as it promises a lot
of fun :-)

Bye,
Matthias.

PS: I forgot who volunteered to draw all this icons?
