I found the fix in a posting by Rudolf Heeb on de.alt.comp.kde:
As far as I saw there's only a pc101keyboard in the advanced options of
kikbd. For a pc102keyboard you would have to add
keycode106=94,less,greater

I haven't tested that yet.
