Sorry Rich, but it's not the problem. The toolbar icons are coming up.
The
problem is, that kfm was used to look in /lib/pics for almost
everything.
But since the icons are not any longer in only one directory, kfm's icon 
search routine need a redesign (or use KIconLoader ;). 
If I remember right, currently kfm looks only in /share/icons. If you
copy
all the icons you have in this directory, it should work :-/
