Dear Subscribers of kde-devel@kde.org

Thank you all for the GREAT work during the last ten months. KDE's growth
was really impressive.

The KDE-One meeting will take place in Arnsberg, Germany at the end of the
week.

We do hope that there will be follow up meetings after KDE-One in other
places of the world.

In case you will be able to make suggestions please tell us.

Due to the rapid development and the great number of developers we expect
KDE-Two to be somewhat bigger and coming soon ;-)

Thank you all for your efforts.

Yours,
-- martin
P.S.: KDE-One was organized by a whole bunch of activists. I would like to
      thank them all!
P.P.S.: World domination fast!

                              Press Release

INTERNET DESKTOP OPERATING SYSTEM RELEASE APROACHES

ARNSBERG, Germany -- August 25, 1997:

"The K Desktop Environment", a graphical user interface for the Linux/Unix
operating system will be prepared for its impending first public release in
an international meeting of software engineers, to be held in Arnsberg,
Germany August 27 to September 1.

Linux (http://www.linux.org), the well known POSIX compliant operating
system, has been lacking an easy to use graphical user interface that
would enable anyone to enjoy the advantages of this exceptionally stable
operating system. This gap will now be filled by the Internet aware
graphical user interface KDE.

KDE (http://www.kde.org) is being developed by a world wide network of
software engineers, whose primary medium of communication is the Internet.
This development model, also used by Linux (http://www.linux.org),
encourages continued rapid development. The KDE developers have created a
freely available, easy to use graphical user interface for all flavors of
the UNIX(R) operating system.

The KDE project is proud to be offering a graphical user interface
exhibiting tight integration of Internet and desktop, thus delivering an
array of features now, which major operating system vendors are promising
for the future.

An international team of selected core developers will come together starting
August 28 for a four day meeting in Arnsberg, Germany, to prepare the impending
first official release of the K Desktop Environment. The meeting, named KDE-ONE,
draws participants from Australia, the USA, Great-Britain, Austria, Norway
and Germany.

The meeting is sponsored by a group of CDROM vendors, and publishing houses.
Linux Verband LIVE (http://www.linux-verband.de), a German Linux user
organization has been instrumental in organizing the meeting.
