One of the dependency of plasma-mediacenter is KDE Frameworks 5. You can
either build it from source or use pre-built binary packages for it.
Once you build plasma-mediacenter from source and get it running here are
some of the open bugs for the plasma-mediacenter,

bugs
some of them are marked as junior jobs which are easy to fix. For example :
