Yes, that is exactly what I want to do.

But this brings me back to the initial issue I raised in this thread: 
Accidentally launching a KDE4 application (e.g. from /usr/bin) in the KF5 
environment (which has its own "eval `dbus-launch`"), leads to freezes in the 
KDE4 session. I still have no clue why that is so, or what I could do against 
this.

Anyhow, I'll just try to set XDG_DATA_DIRS and see whether this influences my 
KDE4 session negatively.
