and if you weren't on such a crusade to prove everyone else wrong and you
right you'd have seen where that was acknowledged as a bug and the
intention to fix it expressed.

yes... you remove $home and baloo won't start and is meant to turn its self
off (though there seems to be a fixable issue around this at present)
