As commonly used by the major browsers - scripting with an app store. That
reduces the entry barrier for creation and makes them easily accessible to all
users, encouraging a large ecosystem of plugins.
The framework for all this is there in KDE (khotsuff?). Did Aaron Seigo blog
about a app store project recently?
