I agree, that sounds like the most useful default list to display.
I.e. if a user visits the configuration of "Desktop Search" they should be 
presented with their current "search sources".

IMHO from a user perspective the actions are "add to" and "remove from" search 
sources and it is irrelevant whether "add to" means removing of a black list 
entry or adding of a white list entry. Only the result "data in new location 
now showing up in search results" does.
Respectively the same for "remove from search sources".

Outside the configuration interface that could be visualized as an emblem or 
side bar or "places" hint in Dolphin, with a simple way to toggle that state.
Perhaps like the "mounting/unmounting" action.
