I know about the other integration utilities out there that exist, but my 
idea was doing integration directly into the plasma desktop.  For 
example, notification would show up in the notifications area, and 
battery information could be seen from the device manager.  I could 
even write up such things as allowing mobile calls from the desktop 
and SMS messages given the time.

Other utilities that require ADB are a pain to setup due to that hurdle, 
and some require root access.

Others are just a web UI running off the Android phone and don't 
integrate into the desktop nearly as well.

Hopefully another outcome of this project could be an abstraction for 
integrating other devices into the desktop this way as well.

In light of the other options do people still like the idea?  How likely is it 
to get approved if I do go ahead with the report (assuming that KDE 
does indeed get accepted into GSOC :) ) ?

If people still like the idea, I think that I will base my proposal on this.
