seems it's waiting in a sync dbus call of KProtocolManager, resolving a  
URL - ie. your dbus server might be busy or spammed or whatever. try  
whether you can call "qdbus org.kde.kwin" during such hang.
if it hangs as well, your session bus has trouble.
