Hi,

There is a problem/bug in some sane backends that the scanner device list is 
not updated after the initial read of the device list. It means that if you 
have multiple scanners and you did not have the specific scanner turned on you 
have to exit the application (Skanlite) before you get the updated scanner 
list.

One workaround would be to use an external helper application that would only 
list the available devices and then exit. (and fall-back to the standard way 
if the application does not exist)

This would mean that packagers would have to be notified to  install that 
helper application.

Does anybody see any other problems with this approach?
