imho, completely :) picking the tasks missing from the scope of an application
like skanlite and creating something that does those things will probably
result in a much higher quality app at the end.
as a fairly regular user of skanlite (as i was with kooka before it), i can
note that skanlite already offers most things on your list (e.g. scanner
settings, a sharable widget for apps to use..), but what it does lack are
things like:
* batch processing
* OCR
other things like image manipulation and probably even imagine collection
management probably belong in a different application that can do a proper job
of those tasks, e.g. krita or gwenview.
but a batch processing app that can then launch an image manager / manipulator
would be really nice for those "i have 10 things to scan *sigh*" things.
one thing i wished kooka had back in the day was a light weight scripting
language so that i could automate certain post-scanning tasks when doing
larger batches .. would be easy with QScript today
