When I meet problem with building KDE I generally ask for clues on IRC (#kde
chan and sometimes #kde-devel). I have always found very quick help there.
Good luck, keep trying, the first build of KDE4 is the hardest one ^^

I tried to build kde from sources. I have done this with kde for many years but have \
been sticking to kde3 since it worked fine. However, I thought it was time to move \
on. Sadly my experience with KDE4 has not been good. Since there doesn't seem to \
be an accurate list of the required software I have no idea if I am running with \
correct versions of things like GCC, Qt etc. I have, by trial and error discovered \
that I didn't have the right versions of fontconfig, akonadi, pcre, cmake and a \
bunch of others. However, after days of fiddling I have finally built kdelibs-4.3.1. \
By much guesswork and a little help from the website I realised I also had to build \
kdepimlibs next. Anyway, when I now build kdebase it fails with a syntax error. The \
failure is in apps/dolphin/src/moc_phonowidget.cpp. I have attached the log file in \
case any one is interested.
I hope this is the right group to post this to. I was told it is but if not then \
please don't send abuse. I am tired of getting abuse from mailing lists. If it \
isn't right just ignore it.

When I \
