agreed; there are three things i can think of that could be done as part of=
 a=20
multi-facet solution (though i'm not sure what mix would be best right now):

* post a clear list of things that will not be re-implemented and why; this=
 is=20
=46AQ material really and shouldn't be host for discussion.

* write tutorials on the "KDE4 way" to get those things done

* encourage people to look at the features that are new in KDE4, get them=20
looking _forwards_ rather than backwards; right now i do fear that we spend=
 a=20
lot of time as a community looking over our shoulder. we need to do some of=
=20
that, for sure, but probably not as much as we're doing now. unfortunately,=
=20
our documentation on "stuff you can do with KDE4" is fairly slim due to its=
=20
youthfulness.

i assume the above is probably what you had in mind as well, or at least=20
similar?

sure; but i think those are very few, thankfully. even people who threw=20
absolute tantrums in very public places (SJVN, for example) and may have gi=
ven=20
the impression of "won't change, ever!" have come around.
