I believe this problem should be fixed with the following change in Qt that 
was
pushed to the 4.5 branch:
http://qt.gitorious.org/qt/qt/commit/9e5fa633913ef952ca4ef5312fe396bcfc885321

(the problem was that sometimes XEvent that is received by Qt contains junk
(some uninitialized fields in the XKeyPress event according to valgrind), and
that junk was treated as a timestamp.
