From kde-devel Sat Jun 20 10:16:03 2009 From: Coque Couto Date: Sat, 20 Jun 2009 10:16:03 +0000 To: kde-devel Subject: Re: Konqueror (and other apps) artifacts Message-Id: X-MARC-Message: https://marc.info/?l=kde-devel&m=124549304808443 MIME-Version: 1 Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="--===============1359730093==" --===============1359730093== Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary=0016e644d504a4881d046cc4ed54 --0016e644d504a4881d046cc4ed54 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit If you are using grub as your boot loader, edit /boot/grub/menu.lst and search the line which refers to your current kernel. Add "i915.modeset=1" at the end. This is the line in my menu.lst (using a 2.6.30 kernel, which BTW has improved *a lot* the intel's driver performance): kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.30-1-686 root=/dev/sda5 ro i915.modeset=1 You can test if KMS works on your system without making permanent changes. At boot prompt, edit the boot options by pressing 'e' twice (from memory, not sure), move to the kernel line and change it as before. If KMS works well, make the change in the menu.lst file. Hope this helps. 2009/6/20, Andrew Mason : > > Same issue here with the thinkpad X200. > > How did you enable KMS ? Same issue here with the thinkpad X200.

How did you enable KMS ? I= have the same xorg.conf as your self
