Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have to test that in a few days i'll be back here and it will occur again. I think i have already tested it and it doesn't change anything.
Maybe there is a way to tell plasma to drop all unread notifications using dbus but i haven't looked at that yet.

Kubuntu 8.10 and 9.04, both with KDE 4.2.4 / Qt 4.5.0.

But I remember that it worked for 4.2.3 just as well. Just hit "view" instead
of "ignore" - doesn't that work for you?
