Hi,
We need help in installing KDE in our embedded
device. The following is the information about our device and tasks we have
done so far:
We have our device installed with Embedded Linux
2.6.11 and QT 4.4.0, but we don’t have X11 in it.
To have latest Konqueror browser in our device, we
have decided to install KDELIBS and KDEBASE in our device. (We got this
information somewhere in internet). Please clarify the installation of KDELIBS
and KDEBASE are sufficient to have the Konqueror browser in the device. Our
ultimate aim is have the latest Konqueror browser in the device.
To achieve that, we have downloaded KDELIBS-4.1.2.tar.bz2 from internet and
copied it to the following location in the device:
/usr/src/player/kdelibs_4.1.2
When we are trying to install KDELIBS 4.1.2, we
encountered the following errors:
1. When we executed the ./configure file from the
KDELIBS source path, we got an error saying that
use CMAKE build tool instead of configure.
2. So we installed CMAKE 2.6.2 and it was installed
successfully.
3. Then we executed the cmake command from the KDELIBS
source path using the following command:
/usr/src/player/kdelibs-4.1.2#cmake
.../kdelibs-4.1.2
Now we got an error saying that
CMake error at
cmake/modules/FindAutomoc4.cmake:53 (message)
Did not find Automoc4Config.cmake
(part of kdesupport). Searched in (/usr/local. ....)
We could not find Automoc4Config.cmake file in our
device either in the kdelibs-4.1.2 path or in the cmake directory.
Do we need to copy any other support directories
along with KDELIBS-4.1.2 to make the installation successful? Please clarify.
Please direct us, incase the steps we have followed is
incorrect.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks&Regards,
Senthilkumar.K

No problem, but please use the kde-devel mailing-list
for further questions.
Your question is off-topic for all the addresses you
sent it to...
> In our device, we have installed Embedded Linux

3.5.9, the installation failed due to X11 dependency.
Right. KDE3 required X11. There was a
"kdenox" module for "kde without X", but this
was quite limited (basically just a webbrowser) and
this code is dead nowadays.
Instead, you should use Qt 4 and KDE 4.
> Is it mandatory that X11 must be installed before
installing KDE? Please clarify.
Not with KDE4, which runs on Mac and Windows too.
But you might have to do some adaptations to make KDE4
compile and work with Qt/Embedded,
I'm not sure what's the status on that.
In any case, start from trunk/KDE, not some old work
branch.
See you on kde-devel@kde.org.
