This must be linked to your graphics card and the so called "desktop effects". 
You should ask the user support maillist with more information on this.

KIO slaves are an easy work, just need to implement a child class of 
KIO::SlaveBase, see http://api.kde.org/4.1-api/kdelibs-
apidocs/kio/html/classKIO_1_1SlaveBase.html

There are a lot of slaves in kdebase-runtime/kioslaves, you can read smb, 
trash, and floppy which provide filesystem emulation.
