After all the gripes that have been around, there is slowly evolving a change
of heart, at least in some people. Here are some quotes from MLs over the
last day or two:

I disliked Dolphin at first but ever since, I use Dolphin for file managing
tasks. I use Konqueror now only for SVN management and the like.

What makes me sceptical at first was that Dolphin was so "basic", it seemed
that it could not do much. What I like now is that Dolphin is so "basic". ;-)
It can do file-management in the most easy manner I can imagine.

And let me just say, that I have tried KDE4, and so far it is the best
vanilla KDE experience I have had in Fedora.
***
All those other distributions that use KDE 3.5 until forced to switch
to KDE 4.x will benefit from the (beta) testing that occurs in Fedora.
So if you are complaining about KDE 4.x and want to contribute but
don't want to invest time in helping the KDE team directly, submit
bugzillas of the things that are broken. That too is helping with
development as you point out the things that are not functioning.
The classic feedback loop. If you don't feedback, the system goes
where it will. Who knows, you might even be able to influence the design
direction. :-)

I just feel that there is a slight movement towards positive attitudes. I
have always believed that fear of the strange/unknown is the real problem,
and a growing familiarity is the only way to break it down.

Take heart. There are users out there that believe in you, and the numbers
will grow.

Anne
And if you don't want to contribute anything, want other people to do it
all for you, well, you'll
have to wait. As Joonas, and others, have said, there are lots of
distributions and Fedora 8
still using KDE 3.5 for you to use while you're waiting.
