Well, not so easy. It would take a lot of work. Just look how much work the
commit-digest is.
And then who would you like to aim? The real average user? The ones more
close to KDE (the ones you regulary read over planetkde or the dot).
There is already Feature Plan in techbase. But that is not complete and very
technical.
Some things aren't really planed in a way that would be needed. Sometimes a
dev sees a need for a thing and does it. And suddenly its there.
I think the users need more trust in the devs. They have done KDE 3. And if
there are obvious missing things, they should just be sure that that is
already in the developers heads and someday it will get fixed. Without them
ranting a hundred times about it.
Another thing I experienced the last weeks in #kde:
I am getting answerer the same questions over and over again.
For example: How can I move the widgets in the panel, i added one and it got
added to the right? (or similiar things about plasma widgets in wrong
positions in panel).
The point is: Sure it is not optimal but I am sure (as every user should be)
that he plasma devs are aware of it and will add it some day when they have
the time for it.
And more importent: There is already a workaround for it. It is not really
obvious and that is the problem. (the solution is that you can drag the
widgets from the add widget dialog to every position you want in the panel)
There should be something like a techbase for normal endusers. With Faq with
the real FAQs from the kde-ml and #kde. Ordered in an good way and that
linked somewhere on www.kde.org.
Also questions for missing features very often asked for could be added there
like?
1. Will moving of widgets in panel will come back?
2. I NEED my icons on desktop, what about that?
and so on.
The problem is that is a lot of work to maintain such a website. I am not
sure it there are enough peolpe interessd to do something like that.
And well I do not think that more closing up the development will solve things
here. The openes (with things like a lot of blogs from the newest things in
kde development and so on, is what really make KDE great and different).
