Hello,

i would really like to see the removing of this unneeded fsyncs happen.

I tried to use hdd spindown when on battery for my laptop but KDE wakes it
up every 10 to 20 seconds.

And for the config file lost:  There is a much bigger problem with that.
When your harddisk is full or nearly full (that can happen without you even
know about it, when you not look for it very often) kde and kde apps are
losing there configs. 

That happend to me a few times. That is a big problem and well I know it
has nothing to do with fsync.
