Hello Everyone,
I would really like to participate in the Summer of Code for KDE this
year and wanted to bounce an idea
off of you all to see what you think.

I would like to make an application that would allow users to easily
sync files between
computers on a local network (or across the internet). I would like
this all to be done
automatically, which would mean using zeroconf. At least eventually, I
would also like
it to have the ability to sync files to attached storage. I think that
there are a lot
of integration possibilities with plasma (such as a syncing applet),
with dolphin (to
select directories to sync) and with other KDE4 technologies (such as
solid to detect
attached storage). I think that this would be useful for many people in
the future
as more devices (such as cell phones) become more like computers.

So please tell me what you all think. I think there are a lot of
possibilities here so
I'm interested to here how this could be expanded, improved or
modified. I'm very receptive to any
ideas and I would use this as I chance to learn as much as I can. I'm
aware that this
is still pretty far from a full fledged proposal, but I would like to
flesh it out as time
goes on. Thanks for any input.

Cheers,
Kyle Cunningham
