Found the reason. I run the kmediafactory from kdevelop and it set the 
XDG_DATA_DIRS variable empty (well I did that setting long time a go...) . 
When it's empty I only got 

kmediafactory(29794) KMimeTypeFactory::parseMagic: Now 
parsing  "/home/damu/.local/share/mime/magic" 

which does not have any magic :-)
