That may have worked but it isn't correct. {presuming that you log in with KDE} The environment should be set in "/etc/profile" and "$HOME/.bash_profile" {if you use Bash} NOTE: it is the same with other shells except that the names of the scripts may be different. and you need to be sure that either: 1. Your "Xsession" script is a login script. 2. Your "Xsession" script explicitly sources "/etc/profile". Doing both is NOT a good idea!
