There were all the 2.5 releases to test with of course, and= =20 I'm sure it received more testing before release than KDE 4.0.0 but=20 eventually Linus decided to release 2.6.0 even though he knew there were be= =20 bugs and regressions. The reason was because if you don't release, it=20 doesn't get tested, simple as that. In our case of course, lack of testing isn't the only problem as we knew ab= out=20 many bugs before release. But the release also clears the way for=20 application development and it lets us know which bugs are the most serious= =20 (bugs which seem serious to developers may be less so to most users, and vi= ce=20 versa). So as much as I would have liked this to be a higher-quality release, I'm=20 proud of what we've accomplished and I agree with the decision to release. = =20 The time has come, it doesn't make sense to hold off forever. (Besides, did you notice the incredible commit rate before the tag freeze? = A=20 deadline helps, uh, motivate developers. ;) Regards, - Michael Pyne --nextPart1894514.se4s6fNu7C Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name=signature.asc Content-Description: This is a digitally signed message part. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.7 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQBHgGOOqjQYp5Omm0oRAu/kAKDitBHe+nrvHE2kuOkdfwbNObC9qwCfT9FH Cr3nTUxKPhnVN9PByPJAFLw= =XmIj -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --nextPart1894514.se4s6fNu7C-- --===============1711185710== Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline >> Visit http://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-devel#unsub to unsubscribe << --===============1711185710==--
