I think Thiago's problem with this may be that he is afraid that we
are going to get into revert wars when one person thinks the sync is
not that important and another person does, and I think he's probably
correct.

Someone had mentioned threading support earlier. If KConfig could me
be made to sync() in the background this issue goes away. Is someone
willing to look into this?
