Hi Dirk,

can't answer your question, but I wonder if it is a wise idea to have 
direct access to an LDAP server from a GUI application (which is 
probably what you want).

As soon as there are any further tasks that need access to the server, 
it should be more reliable to use the same API for any kind of 
operation. If you have (like I know from CiPUX) an API to use for RPC 
calls, or shell commands that you could use, I'd regard this to be the 
cleanest way to access an LDAP server.

If it's all about mere read access (like browsing directories), I 
haven't any objections, however.
