Subject:    arts 'make check' fails

When trying to run 'make check' for arts, I get the following failures:

What is going wrong? How can I debug this? (I didn't find a 'verbose 
flag', although I added '-x' to the shebang of one of the tests, and can 
see that the failure comes from the built programs in '.libs'...)

Offhand this rather looks like a permission problem, but I didn't see 
anything suspicious:
