All I can say is that my resonably up to date KDE version behaves as you describes, that is pressing ALT alternately highlights the File menu and the formuer focused window. Maybe your problem is mandrake sepcific? ---------- Forwarded Message ---------- Subject: Kwrite and key function problem Date: Sunday 30 July 2006 07:55 From: rwd Nickalls To: Anders Lund , dick nickalls Dear Anders Lund, just a note to ask if you can tell me why the key fails to access the FILE item on the navigation toolbar in the new Kwrite and also in KDE windows generally (Mandriva 2006). In Mandrake 9.2 this worked well, and allowed you to work from the keyboard without the mouse for most things. In 9.2 pressing the key /only/, toggles between highlighting the FILE heading and the where the cursor was before. Looking through the HOME /.kde/.../config/ directories I can't find a file where this is specified. Am I able to reimplement it - if so what command do I need to write and what file do I need to place it in? I have looked through the Mandriva lists, but they only mention the problem with etc , but this is a quite different problem altogether. I am concerned with implementing the earlier functionality of the single action of the key itself, which was so useful in previous versions. Perhaps this is really a central KDE keyboard problem, and not a Kwrite problem specifically ? I am using a Dell 101/102 key keyboard - but the key worked OK with Mandrake 9.2 with this /same/ keyboard though.
