From kde-devel Sun Jul 30 08:00:17 2006 From: Pavel Troller Date: Sun, 30 Jul 2006 08:00:17 +0000 To: kde-devel Subject: kdesu problem Message-Id: <20060730080017.GA9706 () tangens ! sinus ! cz> X-MARC-Message: https://marc.info/?l=kde-devel&m=115424644814242 Hi! After upgrade to SVN branch of 3.5.4, I found that kdesu doesn't work here now. It correctly prompts for the password, kdesu_stub is started but it doesn't create any new process. It hangs until terminated, for example by Ctrl-C. Using kdebugdialog, I've checked all the kdesu* boxes. The only thing which it gathered was: >trol@porygon:~$ kdesu konsole kdesu (kdelibs): [process.cpp:263] Running `/bin/su' kdesu (kdelibs): [su.cpp:193] Read line kdesu (kdelibs): [process.cpp:263] Running `/bin/su' kdesu (kdelibs): [su.cpp:193] Read line kdesu (kdelibs): [process.cpp:358] Child pid 1147 kdesu (kdelibs): [su.cpp:193] Read line <> kdesu (kdelibs): [su.cpp:193] Read line kdesu (kdelibs): [process.cpp:263] Running `/bin/su' kdesu (kdelibs): [su.cpp:193] Read line kdesu (kdelibs): [process.cpp:358] Child pid 1151 kdesu (kdelibs): [su.cpp:193] Read line <> kdesu (kdelibs): [su.cpp:193] Read line ...Ctrl-C pressed patrol@porygon:~$ I've compared this output with another machine with slightly older KDE, where kdesu works, and it contains the same lines, but less. It looks like something was run twice. I don't want to spam bugzilla until I know for sure that it's a regular bug, and because I know that the latest change in the kdesu stuff was made in April, I don't know exactly what's happening there. I would like to do more debugging, but I don't know what to test now. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
