Is there a way to turn it on in a "release" build? I've enabled
everything in kdebugdialog.

The entry point is KDE_EXPORTed (although e.g. metabar doesn't and it
still works). I'm not sure about the unresolved symbols though. I've
tested it by making a dummy main program that just creates the widget I
intend to put in the sidebar. For the sidebar I used the KDevelop
template and just added the libs to the _LIBADD variable. The
Maksfile.am can be seen at
http://www.korjaussarja.net/sidebar/Makefile.am
And yes, I have implemented handleURL :)
The thing I'm doing is a sidebar blogging widget, adapted from KBlogger.
The problem mostly is, there's no debug output from anywhere.
