Yes you are right of course.

That also means I misunderstood the setting...

"Set date and time automatically: europe.pool.ntp.org" suggested me that 
time is synchronized, not only set once... (especially since the manual 
way of setting the time is grayed out)

Maybe rename the setting "Set time once from following timeserver: ...", 
with an "Apply" button, and not a checkbox...?
