Compiz is made up of a backend and multiple frontends.
The backend contains most of the core logic and is
designed to be desktop agnostic (ie. it doesn’t care
whether it runs in KDE, GNOME, XFCE etc). Individual
frontends, on the other hand, are desktop specific and
must be custom-made for each desktop. Until now, the
GTK/GNOME frontend to Compiz is the most mature, while
the Qt/KDE frontend still needs a lot of work – this
is where you can help.

KDE4 will probably include the Compiz backend and the
Qt/KDE frontend. The Qt/KDE frontend can be found at:

http://webcvs.freedesktop.org/xorg/app/compiz/kde/

Furthermore, the Qt/KDE frontend should work with the
SVG-enabled theme library called coKoon, which is
still in development and can also use your help:

http://websvn.kde.org/branches/work/kde4/playground/artwork/cokoon/

There was a good discussion about this on the Compiz
mailinglist:

http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/compiz/2006-April/000019.html

David Reveman (author of Compiz) and Sandro Giessl
(author of coKoon) may be able to give you guidance
regarding what exactly needs to be done.

Thanks for your interest,
-Mark
