hi,

Luke_Jr (#oe on irc.freenode.net) is presently creating bitbake files
to compile up KDE under the openembedded.org development environment.

the reasons are as follows:

1) gnome is a pile of steaming piss.
2) qt/embedded is at qt version 2
3) Opie is based on qt/e
4) GPE is based on GTK, which is a smaller pile of steaming piss.
5) kde rocks.

there is... a slight problem.

KDE and KDE apps are designed for a minimum desktop size of 800x600.

putting e.g. Kontact, which would be _great_, onto a 320x480 screen,
is likely to be... how to say... problematic? :)

has anyone got any ideas?

the first thing is of course to confirm that it all compiles,
and to find out how much space it takes up. Luke_Jr is just
building kdelibs_3.5.0 (i.e. it's got past the configure stage...)
as i write this.

where to go next?

who's interested?

who should be approached to say "when developing your app, please take
into account that some people will shrink it to 320x480 and still
expect it to be useable!"

thoughts?

l.
