Every time I start up konqueror, a kio_file request shows up in my ps output.

20245 ??  I       0:00.04 kdeinit: kdeinit: kio_file file \
/home/daf/Tmp/ksocket-daf/klauncherT10098.slave-socket \
/home/daf/Tmp/ksocket-daf/konquerorG25098.slave-socket (kdeinit)

This happens even though konqueror is accessing only a local file as homepage.
What is the kio_file process accessing - my local file homepage or something else?
