I'm checking for a library by adding the following line to the configure.in in 
my kdevelop project. is there a better/more robust way?

AC_CHECK_LIB(appname, test_function, [LIBS="$LIBS 
-llibname";],AC_MSG_ERROR(Can't find appname's libraries. Please check your 
installtion of appname.))
