It's the usual startkde from KDE I think, also note: Running startkde without kdm (from console using startx) works as expected. Also xdm shows the same behaviour as kdm, so it might be that this is in fact related to X11 itself (I'm using Xorg 6.8.2 from Debian). I think I might have to reassign the Debian bugreport back to xserver-xorg...
