AFAICS in kdebase/kicker/applets/launcher/launcherapplet.kcfg it works with 
the comma separated list. Have a look at the generated code: prefs.cpp. 
There's an KConfigSkeletonItem, which is initialized with the set of strings 
located in the kcfg file.
