For a quanta like gui, you'll need to use the KMDI library. The API doc 
reference for KMDI is at 
http://developer.kde.org/documentation/library/3.5-api/kdelibs-apidocs/kmdi/html/index.html 
and has examples on how you can get your interface up and running.
